5 great tips for photographing coffee

Image 1. Click to open in original size.

Moment has collected five ways to make coffee shots look better. I like number 1 and 2 best.

1: Use a napkin to reflect light on shadows

“Coffee shops usually have nice, big windows which provide great natural light for taking photos of your drink. However, sometimes the light can be too harsh and create an unwanted shadow on one side of your cup. To Help even out the light you can use a napkin or any other light colored surface to Help bounce that window light back into your shot, creating a more pleasing image.”

2: Add human elements to create life

”When I shoot photos of coffee or food, I like to add some sort of human element in the image, whether it’s a hand, fashion accessory, or demonstration of movement. This makes the photo look more relatable and less staged.”

Follow the link below to see a lot of example photos that will convince you to try them for yourself.

I think it's hard to add the human element when photografing tea, but then I have a big camera normally since my camera on my phone isn't that great. Sure I try to add other stuff instead of a human but it doesn't always work

But when it comes to tea you can always find props in the tea itself

note: the first picture may have been taken with a systemic caera, I don't remember. They are all from instagram
