How to de-construct the lighting in a photo

Originally, I made this for the Art Savvity community, but it’s just as relevant here. πŸ™‚

In the attached photo, I explain how you can figure out the lighting of a subject in a photo. It is useful when you see a photo you like and want to recreate it in your own way. The best clues are found in the eyes. They reflect what is around them, especially the lights.

This works great for photos you see in fashion magazines, blogs, and other places. The most important thing is that the photo is reasonably sharp so you can see the details.
